Are Celebs Ruining Twitter with Ads?
07 Jan 2010, written by Dustin Mooney 0 CommentsThis is a really good post from PopEater about how celebrities are getting paid to tweet. I really enjoyed the post, it’s something that isn’t talked about much, but I think it should be addressed. Anyway, I liked it so much I thought I would repost it as is on my blog. I do some paid tweeting through SponsoredTweets. But mine are always disclosed, and I definitely don’t make $10,000 a tweet. Ad.ly is another good service for those of you looking to get paid to tweet.
The Times RSS Reader: Is It The New Newspaper?
17 Nov 2009, written by Dustin Mooney 0 CommentsI’ve been using the Times RSS reader for about a week now and so far I love it. It’s is the computers version of a newspaper. It’s an app designed and created by Acrylic. They are also the one’s behind the Wallet app for the iPhone and Macs. Wallet is a way to remember passwords and other secure information. The Wallet app sells for $20. But in my opinion it’s nothing compared to their Times app.
CIA Invest In Firm That Monitor Social Media Sites
23 Oct 2009, written by Dustin Mooney 0 CommentsThere has been some news recently of Visible Technologies, a software company that monitors social media websites like Flickr, Twitter and Amazon. It currently doesn’t mess around with closed or personal social networking sites like Facebook (so for all the terrorist reading this, don’t fear, your Facebook accounts are safe, you can still comment and share photos of yourselves slaying puppies or something). The software also pulls together over a million post and conversations a day from blogs, forums, and social networks. Users of the Tru product line get live news feeds of what is being said on these sites based on the keywords chosen by the customer.
Newsletters and Mailing List: There’s Something To It Share
14 Oct 2009, written by Dustin Mooney 0 CommentsAfter talking with my good friend Jason Baptiste, I began looking more into newsletters and mailing list. After some research I decided to start one. I researched the best companies to use and how to go about creating a solid newsletter that would gain viewers and fans. There are a ton of services out there that provide newsletter services. Some of the most well-known are ConstantContact and iContact. But I am not a huge fan of these for some reason. MailChimp isn’t to bad, it’s Jason’s favorite. Being cheap, I decided to start with “Newsletter” a Wordpress plugin created by Stefano Lissa. It’s free, which means it’s for me. There are definite drawbacks, but for the most part I like it pretty well. I figure once my readership grows I will transfer to BinHost (my current favorite newsletter hosting service, and the one used by Jason Calacanis) or MailChimp or one of those types of “paying” services. But for now, I will stick with the “Newsletter” plugin, and keep hoping for a few improvements.
BlogOrlando Wrap-Up
29 Sep 2008, written by Dustin Mooney 0 CommentsI attended BlogOrlando Saturday at Rollins College in Winter Haven, Florida. Coming from Tampa and then going home to Orlando, the traveling wasn’t terrible for me. But there were people from all over the United States and even Canada. BlogOrlando was in its third year of informational excellence and covered an aray of great topics.

What Is America’s Role In The World? How Far Should We Go?
I like many Americans am questioning Obama's decision to send troops to Haiti. I feel awful for the people in Haiti and hope only the best for them. But we are fighting in two wars right now, we have an economy still in shambles, people are losing jobs left and right, and the President is fully focused on health care. So should we be sending troops to help that nation when we have so many other problems we need to focus on?
